Excellence and Innovation in Medical Education

QI Summit

46th Annual SEMCME Research Forum and
9th Annual Michigan Summit on Quality Improvement,
Patient Safety & High Value Care

The Southeast Michigan Center for Medical Education and its member hospitals and
universities are pleased to present the combined 46th Annual Research Forum and
9th Annual Michigan Summit on Quality Improvement, Patient Safety & High Value
Care on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Lovett Hall, Dearborn, MI.

These two signature programs will be presented together to recognize the remarkable
resident research and resident & fellow QI projects from the consortium. Over 70
papers will be presented in slide or poster format and all will be selected from clinic
day competitions at their respective institutions. These papers truly represent the best
of the best. A panel of esteemed researchers and faculty have been invited to critique
the papers and several prestigious awards will be presented for the top papers.

A hallmark of the research proceedings is the “Silbergleit Lecture”, named in honor of
Dr. Allen Silbergleit, a nationally recognized surgeon and dedicated researcher,
educator, and medical historian. Established over forty years ago, the Lecture has
featured many of the nation’s leading scientists presenting subjects on the cutting
edge of medicine including William DeVries on the mechanical heart; Anthony Fauci
on AIDS; Robert Gale on Chernobyl; Lazar Greenfield on the Greenfield Filter; and
Keith Campbell on the Cloning of Dolly. In 2021 and 2022, Dr. Arnold Monto and Dr.
Michael Osterholm, highly recognized American epidemiologists and researchers,
gave timely keynote lectures on the emerging COVID-19 virus.

A back drop for this signature event, Lovett Hall is a site of unsurpassed elegance
where Henry Ford hosted some of the greatest names in history. Built in 1937, Lovett
Hall is part of The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan, a National Historic Landmark
with an unparallel collection of artifacts from 300 years of American history.
